Encouraging dialogue between teams to better understand plant communication.

Created in 2019, PLANTCOM now brings together more than 120 researchers from 13 countries. Biologists, geneticists, ecologists, and agronomists are joining forces to develop an integrated approach to plant communication.

The PLANTCOM network was born out of a simple observation: plant-plant interactions can only be understood if research transcends disciplinary and geographical boundaries. Through its thematic working groups, PLANTCOM promotes the exchange of genetic data, the sharing of experimental protocols, and the training of young researchers in innovative analysis tools.

Network members collaborate on European and international projects, often at the interface between fundamental research and agricultural applications. A collaborative online platform allows for the sharing of publications, datasets, and even negative results, which are essential to the advancement of open science.

By promoting synergies between laboratories and continents, PLANTCOM illustrates a new way of conducting research: open, interdisciplinary, and focused on global ecological issues.
